Why Sang Kala

How We Approach Each Piece

Intake Documentation

Every watch arrives to a written assessment and photographic record before any work begins — a practice borrowed from conservation rather than quick-service repair.

Horological-Grade Process

Ultrasonic cleaning with sequenced solvents, viscosity-matched lubrication, and multi-day timing observation distinguish our process from workshop routine.

Parts Sourcing Integrity

We draw from manufacturer parts networks where accessible, and consider carefully matched alternatives when original components are no longer produced — never arbitrary substitution.

Finishing Fidelity

Bracelet surfaces are refinished to their original geometry — brushed zones grained with correct directionality, polished transitions treated progressively to maintain crisp edges.

Transparent Communication

Scope, timeline, and indicative cost are discussed before work proceeds. There are no surprises — only considered decisions made in consultation with you.

Heritage Competence

Vintage and inherited pieces receive the same structured attention as contemporary watches — often more, given the absence of service history and the irreplaceability of original components.

Take the Next Step

Is Your Watch Due for Attention?

Whether you've noticed a change in accuracy, inherited a chronograph without service history, or simply know the interval has passed — we're glad to take a look.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

How do I know if my watch needs a service overhaul?
Common indicators include a noticeable change in daily accuracy, reduced power reserve, a rotor that sounds different, or difficulty winding the crown. Watches that have exceeded their manufacturer-recommended service interval — typically four to seven years depending on calibre — are also worth having assessed regardless of apparent symptoms.
What does the intake process involve?
When your watch arrives, we photograph it thoroughly and prepare a written condition assessment noting existing marks, dial condition, and any observed mechanical behaviour. We discuss scope and indicative cost before any work begins. Nothing proceeds without your agreement.
How long does a movement overhaul typically take?
A standard movement overhaul generally takes three to five weeks from intake to collection, accounting for disassembly, cleaning, parts assessment, regulated reassembly, and the multi-day timing observation period. Heritage chronograph services can run six to ten weeks depending on parts availability and complication depth.
Do you service watches from all brands?
We work with mechanical, automatic, and manually-wound movements across most Swiss and Japanese manufacture traditions. During the intake consultation, we'll let you know if a particular piece falls outside our current service scope — and where appropriate, suggest alternatives.
What are the indicative costs for each service?
Movement overhaul starts from MYR 980, bracelet and clasp restoration from MYR 720, and heritage chronograph service from MYR 1,790. Final pricing is confirmed after the intake assessment, as worn parts and complication depth can affect scope. There are no hidden additions beyond what is discussed and agreed in advance.
How is my watch kept safe while in your care?
Pieces are stored securely throughout the service period and never left unattended in transit within the workshop. The intake record and photography provide a clear before-and-after reference. We handle your watch with the same care we would give our own.
